Why Fridays are better than Mondays…the (real) start of the Cardinal Rose Photography blog

So for most of us I'm guessing we can all come up with about 1,000 reasons why Fridays are better than Mondays. For me its not about thinking of Friday as a closure to the work week, its about thinking of it as a shining beacon of what is to come. Fridays give us a sense of reward and renewal. Everyone seems to have a little more energy, a little more vigor, a little more hope. Thats because everyone is looking ahead to whatever their weekend holds. During this time of the year the weather is beautiful and we all are headed somewhere we find exciting, stress-free, relaxing, and usually fulfilling. Fridays are filled with the "what-ifs"!

That is why I chose Friday to unveil my new blog. Yes, its time for me to step up and introduce you to myself, my world, and my photography. As much as I want you to love my photography, I want you to feel like you know the person behind it. I have taken a lot of different paths to get to this point but I'm ready to share my world with you. I hope you will join me on this journey as I talk about all different kinds of things. From my love of my rescue cats, to my passion for dance, and my many many quirks.

So this is me, Heather, the person behind Cardinal Rose Photography. I'm 31 (just had by birthday), newly married (as in married for 13 days!!!) and mother to 2 adorable rescue kitties (don't worry you will see plenty of them around here). I was born and raised in Northern VA but deeply refer to myself as a Southern girl. Yes, for all you geography buffs out there I realize VA is the South but Northern VA is sooooo not. Ask anyone, they will let you know. The name for my company came to me literally out of thin air one day. I wanted something unique and something that meant something to me. Since my "Nanny" (my mother's mom) always supported me in everything and even raised me when I was a kid I wanted to incorporate her into this new endeavor I was beginning. She absolutely loved red birds, they could be found all throughout her home, especially at Christmas, and it seems she passed that love onto me when she passed away. And she and I have always shared a joint love of roses. So Cardinal Rose just seemed a fitting tribute to her. One of my absolute favorite people in the world!

So here it is, what I am calling my first official blog post, started on a Friday…the day of "what-ifs". I don't expect you to fall in love with me or my photography over night. I just ask that you hop on this crazy ride with me and see where we go. The current plan is to touch base with you every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to share my journeys, my laughs, and probably sometimes my tears…because I am human too. So stop in when you have time, bring a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and just breathe. Because we all need time to ourselves now and again.

Since this is an introduction to myself and my world I am going to share with you some photos…real photos, not necessarily ones I took, but ones that show you who I am and some of my most favorite people in the world. Sit back, enjoy, and imagine what everyone could accomplish, even you, if you just asked yourself, "what if?"
