I don't think it is possible for me to be any more excited than I am about writing this post!!! Since the moment I got engaged finding a photographer to photograph my wedding was my top priority. Being a photographer myself I wanted someone who not only took beautiful pictures but was fun to be around and made my husband and I feel comfortable. We found what we were looking for when we met with Genevieve Leiper at her adorable Leesburg, VA studio. She is one of the Who Who's of Northern VA wedding photographers and we were so lucky to be able to book her!
As I had mentioned in my engagement story (you can find it here) Chris and I were engaged under the pergola at Potomac Point Vineyard & Winery on May 24, 2013 and were married under the same pergola on May 24, 2014.
Like most any girl I have dreamed of my wedding day since I was a little girl. Luckily over time my vision has changed and refined a little. I have a love for pink and vintage things so the theme of our wedding quickly became "Vintage Romance". I wanted pink, vintage, lace, and sparkles; and I think I actually got it to work! I had the best girls in the world by my side, not only for that day but some were even able to come in a few days ahead of time to help with all the DIY projects I had going on. I'm a crafty gal so of course I had projects that I wanted to do. The projects just get a little out of hand the closer you get to the wedding when there is more and more going on. But for the most part the day went off without a hitch! There were of course a few little glitches like; the cake topper being left at home, packing my wedding day jewelry in my overnight bag that was taken to the hotel, and the best one…the groom's ring was too small! Thank goodness for the best family ever!!! My cousin (Mo) and aunt (Anita) worked their magic and got my Grandaddy's ring over to the ceremony site in time. I didn't even know about it until I was handed the ring to slip on Chris' finger. Even with some little glitches things turned out great. Some of my favorite parts of the day were the personal touches we added to things. My cousin, Monica, who has always been my big sister officiated our day and everyone that was there said it was the best ceremony they had ever been to (and I completely agree!!!). Music was also huge to me since I have a very musical family (unfortunately that talent did not translate to me). During pre-ceremony and the entrance of the groom/groomsmen and bridesmaids, Monica's husband Ben played guitar. He is an amazing musician (check out his band, Six Bar Break). My absolute favorite moment of the day was my cousin, Todd, playing and singing my entrance music. Todd and I were born 6 months apart and have been best friends ever since so having him as a part of my day was a must. He is so talented and has an amazing voice so I knew right away I wanted him to sing somewhere during the day. He ended up singing A Thousand Years by Christina Perri as my bridal entrance and it couldn't have been more perfect.
Just like everyone else tells you, the day goes by in a flash. As quickly though as it went by I have some absolutely amazing memories from that day that I will cherish forever. Having everyone you love in one room is absolutely amazing! I want to have a big party every year just so I can get all those people together again!!!
So here are just a few pictures from my big day so you can come along the journey with me. Thanks so much for coming here and sharing in my memories! I have the best blog friends!
Stay tuned next week when its time to party!!! Before I go I have to say a huge THANK YOU to my family, friends, and vendors who helped make this day absolutely amazing and unforgettable…you are all fantastic and I love you so!
